On January 14th, a Level 3 training on Child Protection was organized in the premises of the Dispensary for all DF-SFB volunteering health professionals.
Training on this type of subject enables all health professionals working in the Child Protection field to better control the legislative and regulatory framework surrounding the child in danger programme. The cross-sectional and multidisciplinary approach of the trainer specialised in Child Protection, Mike Smith, helped understanding the full scope of the programme and improve one’s knowledge of this very specific audience thus giving the volunteers additional support on a daily basis.
Four main topics were dealt with:
- Definition, signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect
- Health professionals’ responsibilities when they suspect child abuse
- The role of social services and the police
- Legislation and guidance
Twenty doctors, paramedics and psychologists attended this training day.
